Did you know? New biotoxins or toxin forming organisms are being identified nearly monthly.

Q: How much do the vision tests cost?
A: A secured credit card payment of $15.00 gives users one VCS test. This test screens for the presence of effects potentially caused by biotoxins, including Post-Lyme Disease. It can also serve as a baseline test for future reference.
The second package includes 3 VCS tests and the treatment protocols for $49.95. The 3 tests should be taken immediately before, after 1 week, and after 2 weeks of treatment. You receive immediate feedback on test results (positive or negative), your physician can be notified by Email, and the detailed results will be available in a file on the website that you can access to print for you and your physician.
A third package of 10 VCS tests is available for $75.00. This package does not include treatment protocols. It is recommended for those requiring longer than 2 weeks of treatment or for those wishing to monitor their status more frequently.

Q: Who will prescribe medications when/if necessary?
A: You can take the treatment protocols to your physician and request treatment. You also have the option of requesting an office visit with Dr. Shoemaker. Medications can only be prescribed after seeing a physician in person.

Q: Are office visits or prescriptions included in my fee paid to chronicneurotoxins.com?
A: Neither office visits nor medications are covered by any fees you pay at this website for the vision tests and treatment protocols

.
Q: Does my insurance cover this service?
A: We cannot charge any fees for our website products or the VCS test to your insurance company at this time. Many insurance companies, however, will cover the cost of office visits.

Q: I have had these symptoms for a long period of time. How come I have never heard of the VCS Exam before?
A: This is a relatively new area of medical research. You can review articles on the VCS test and our biotoxin-induced illness paradigm in our Reference Section. We are currently working on papers to expand the paradigm of multiple system symptoms, a VCS deficit and treatment effect to many additional types of biotoxins that cause chronic human illness.

Q: If I purchase a package with 3 or 10 VCS tests, can 2 or more family members take the tests?
A: In order to keep the VCS and preliminary test result files associated with the correct person, it necessary for each person to take the tests under their own register user name. Since VCS test purchases are associated with a particular user name, only that person should take tests from that package. Contact us for a discount for packages for 3 or more family members.

Q: Why is a "positive" VCS result indicative of neurotoxins?
A: Our articles, listed in the Reference Section, discuss and cite the literature on use of the VCS test in neurotoxicity. Our research subsequently indicated that many types of biotoxins cause the VCS deficit and induce chronic illness, and that the treatment protocol, developed by Dr. Shoemaker, successfully restores good health. Current research indicates that many biotoxins upregulate proinflammatory cytokines, causing internal inflammation, symptoms and chronic illness.

Q: How do I take the VCS Exam?
A: The VCS Exam is a vision test that you can take in about 5 minutes online, here at our web site. In order to do so, you need to register (to get a login id and password), take our preliminary test (symptom and medical history questionnaires), and purchase a VCS test.

Q: Do I need to prepare in any way for the VCS Exam?
A: You don't need to do anything to prepare yourself for taking the VCS test. However, you may need to get your computer ready. There are some computer requirements to be able to successfully take the VCS test.

Q: What are your system requirements for taking the VCS Exam online?
A: There are some computer or system requirements. Please view our system requirements before attempting to take the VCS test.

Prior to launching a new version of this website in June, 2002, the earlier version had been online for about a year and a half. Over 3,600 registered users had taken the preliminary and VCS tests. About half of the test results were positive for potential chronic, neurotoxin-induced illness. We do not know exactly how many of those used our treatment protocol with their local physician, or the outcome for all that did. We do know, however, that many used the protocol with success, and that many others were successfully treated by Dr. Shoemaker or another physician.
